Simon, a retired Easter Bunny

My husband and I had wanted a house rabbit for a long time, and had been actually thinking of contacting a breeder at first.

When we were doing our research, we saw how many sweet, loveable, unwanted bunnies there were, and we knew that the breeder was the wrong thing to do. (Also we were uncomfortable with what we saw of the photos of the breeders farm.)

Unfortunately for us, (but fortunately for the bunnies) there were not any available bunnies for adoption in our area. (We live in Montreal, Canada, not a big rabbit-town.)

We were making preparations to eventually drive out to the US or the next Province over to find an ideal bunny, when we got an e-mail from a friend who was doing work on a local shelters website. The e-mail was entitled: "Is This Your Bunny?"

And so we met adopted Simon, a handsome doe-cloured French lop. He was a retired easter bunny who had been abandoned when he got too large. He was already litter-trained, and very well-behaved.

We have had him for a year and a half now, and is such a success, we are thinking of getting him a companion!

Anyways, he has made my and my husbands life happier with his crazy hoppy bunny ways, and we would both wholeheartedly encourage anyone who was thinking of adopting to do so!
