Skittles needs new home ASAP

Hello! My name is Dana Kovach, and I am the rescue coordinator for the Scott County (KY) Humane Society.

Currently, our local shelter has a New Zealand rabbit that is in immediate danger of being euthanized. She was found as a stray in a local apartment complex. The person who brought her to the shelter tried to find her owner before bringing her to the shelter, but she had no luck. She was calling her Skittles. No one has come to the shelter to claim her either. I am attaching her picture.

If you can help her or know of anyone who can, please contact me ASAP.
Tel. number is 502-863-3279 Thanks!

Sincerely,
Dana Kovach

Tiny Dutch baby girl found injured and near death

I received the call around noon from a frantic person who had found a tiny baby that was seriously injured - This extremely ill Dutch baby was found abandoned in her back yard -the baby bunny was in shock and unable to move. The bunny is very lucky that she was found -just in time- and saved. We estimate that the baby had only hours to live without treatment.

The person who found her located our number as she had just picked up the debut edition of Silicon Valley tails at a nearby shop (that ad just happened to have come out the day before!). Our big blue ad caught her attention. This good Samaritan had no idea what to do or where to take her new found desperately injured baby bunny. So she called for our help.

(by Carl Butler, Daily Post)

A WOMAN who sold her sports car to fund her rescue centre for rabbits has been forced to close it down.

Katie Bowden, 25, reluctantly shut Bowden Bunny Rescue (Flintshire, UK) and is looking for homes for 14 rabbits in her care.

She is keeping four rescue rabbits which would be too difficult to re-home.

She says without donations or sponsors she just cannot afford to look after any more.

It was a great week for our shelter. We were able to rehome 8 bunnies!

Stamper, a beautiful female bunny was looking for a new pal, as her mate just recently passed away. A bit nervous she came to the shelter to look for her new friend and we tried Doerak with her and............ they liked eachother.
Here you see Doerak with his new 'boss'

Doerak with his new 'boss'

6 year old rabbit

........ and the fun was gone. That’s the reason this cute little thing was brought to our shelter.

First the owners did not want to pay for the fee we ask for taking in their pets and threatened to dump it in the woods. But after a very ‘dry’ comment from our side, they decided to pay for the fee and leave their rabbit at our shelter.

Is it a male or female, Sir?
No idea

Oh… What’s her or his name then?
It has no name

May we introduce to you Guli !!

Guli, 6 years young and o so cute. Waiting to be rehomed at a shelter in The Netherlands (province Limburg)

Easter's over, tired bunny's back

ROSIE the rabbit finally hopped back into the arms of her loving owner yesterday.

After escaping from a backyard enclosure in Preston on Easter Sunday, Rosie was taken in by the Lost Dogs' Home. Owner Ineka, 6, and father Carlos were amazed when they saw Rosie's picture in the Herald Sun on Tuesday.

Bunnies dumped just before Easter

Normally most bunnies are dumped about 1 to 2 months after Easter. Because then it turns out that having a bunny as a pet is not that easy as it looks.

Our shelter almost never refuses bunnies who are no longer wanted or are in need of a new home due to circumstances, on one condition: that people pay a “modest” fee for taking in their bunnies (most bunnies need to be neutered and need to be vaccinated). But even that is something a lot of so-called pet owners are not willing to pay and instead they dump their bunnies just like that.

That is what happened with Stribbel and Beattle in the early morning of Saturday April 15th, 2006: just before Easter. They were found in a very filthy cage at the side of a road.

Stribbel in the filthy cage

Bunnies get shelter for Easter

By HOLLY MIYASAKI, News Staff Reporter, Apr 09 2006

This Easter an area animal shelter will have a special edition to their full house.
Critteraid, located in Summerland, received eight bunnies from Peru last week and they will be house guests for 45 days.

"I received an e-mail from a lady in Peru saying she and her husband were emigrating to Canada and really desperately wanted to bring their bunnies and the CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) said they would have to put their bunnies into quarantine," said Critteraid president Deborah Silk. "If they couldn't find a facility, they couldn't bring their bunnies."

Drowning of duct-taped rabbit spurs $250 reward

The Arizona Republic

A public-safety non-profit group is offering a reward in the torture and death of a white-and-brown rabbit found bound with duct tape at the bottom of a canal, its legs tied to a brick.

An animal control officer found the domesticated rabbit Thursday morning after a woman walking her dog saw what she believed was a dog in the canal near Gilbert and McKellips roads.

RSPCA criticises 'rabbit wedding'

BBC News, Hereford

A stunt in which two giant rabbits were married in a mock wedding has been criticised by the RSPCA. Continental Giant rabbits Roberto and Amy, who are both more than 3ft long, were dressed up in hats and veils.

But the animal charity called it "belittling" and said it sent out the wrong message about animals.
The rabbits' owner Annette Edwards, of Worcestershire, denied the ceremony at Wookey Hole in Somerset was cruel saying the rabbits were well cared for.

A bowler hat was placed on the head of Roberto, aged three, who is 3ft 6in long and is believed to be the biggest rabbit in the world.
Organisers dressed Amy in a mini veil and a wedding band was placed around her paw.
